📙Behold, the bridegroom comes | Eastern Lightning 🌩🌩

Behold, the bridegroom comes | Eastern Lightning

When the Lord Jesus prophesied His return, He said, “But of that day and that hour knows no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father” (Mak 13:32). “And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom comes; go you out to meet him” (Mat 25:6). Many of us do not know the real meaning of these words. Does man know the Lord’s arrival or not? If we do not understand this aspect of the truth, when the Lord comes back, won’t we miss the chance to welcome Him?

Answer: The Lord Jesus said, “But of that day and hour knows no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only” (Matthew 24:36). This verse says no one knows “that day and hour.” When “day” is mentioned, doesn’t it refer to a specific day? And when “hour” is mentioned, doesn’t it mean a particular time? Therefore, the true meaning of “But of that day and hour knows no man” is that no one will know the exact day and hour of the Lord’s return. It doesn’t mean no man will know the Lord’s arrival. That is to say, no man will know the exact time of the Lord’s coming, however, after the Lord returns and starts to work, people will know it. For example, in the Age of Law, Jehovah God prophesied the coming of the Messiah through prophets. But no one knew the time or the way of the Messiah’s arrival. When the Lord Jesus came among man to do His work, people knew it. Similarly, man knows not the day and hour of the Lord’s return in the last days, but when the returned Lord begins to work, man will know it.

The Lord Jesus also said, “And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom comes; go you out to meet him.” This verse mentions “at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom comes,” which shows that some people know the Lord’s arrival. If no one knows it, how could the verse say, “at midnight there was a cry made”? Since there is a cry, it’s clear that some people must know the Lord’s return when that happens. “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me” (Revelation 3:20). From this verse, we can also see when the Lord returns, there are some people who are aware of it, because it’s mentioned in the verse that when the Lord arrives He will stand at the door to knock, and that anyone hears His voice will open the door, and He will come in to him. This is a proof of the fact that when the Lord arrives there must be some people who know it.
