CAG Christians Denounce CCP at DC Tiananmen Remembrance Rally

The afternoon of June 4, 2019, hundreds of people gathered on the United States Capitol West Lawn to attend a rally of remembrance for the 30th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre. The event was organized by Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation, and representatives from more than 20 NGOs and religious groups spoke, including Freedom House, Campaign for Uyghurs, Initiatives for China, and The Church of Almighty God.

CCP’s Farce: Finding Relatives Overseas


Afraid of its malicious acts of persecuting religions being exposed abroad, the CCP used various tactics to thwart the attempts of refugees who fled China to seek asylum overseas and tried all means to extradite them to China. On World Refugee Day, June 20, Zhao Lin, a Christian from The Church of Almighty God (CAG), spoke at the conference “The Long Arm of the Dragon: China’s Persecution of Believers at Home and Abroad” held in Seoul, South Korea, detailing her true experience of being persecuted in mainland China and the “finding relatives overseas” farce directed by the CCP for extraditing Christians.

CCP’s Use of Tech to Abuse Human Rights Condemned at 2nd Ministerial Side Event


On July 15, 2019, during the US State Department’s second Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom, the Coalition to Advance Religious Freedom in China held a side event called “Silicon Valley and China: The Rise of Religious Oppression Through Technology.” A persecuted Christian from The Church of Almighty God (CAG), a Uyghur, and a petitioner spoke on the CCP’s use of advanced technology to trample human rights, and called on US tech companies to stop their supply to China. The host Greg Mitchell, Co-Chair of the International Religious Freedom Roundtable, spoke on the state of religious persecution in China.

The International Christian Film and Music Festival, now in its 7th edition, is currently one of the largest, most influential Christian film festivals, primarily showing faith-related and family films as well as documentaries and is one of very few film festivals that provides the opportunity for a screening at Cannes. Out of nearly 1,000 other excellent films from across the world, 42 documentaries received nominations. The One Who Holds Sovereignty Over Everything was nominated for Best Documentary, Most Creative Documentary, and Most Inspirational Documentary.

Between May 4 and 19, 2019, the large-scale choral documentary The One Who Holds Sovereignty Over Everything produced by The Church of Almighty God won awards and nominations at film festivals in Spain, Italy, and the US. Responses to the film were enthusiastic, with organizers and a number of industry insiders commenting on its profound significance and the new understanding they gained of God’s rule and authority.

Human rights experts and Chinese religious refugees described the CCP’s attempts to systematically eliminate religious beliefs, exposing the various tactics employed to ruthlessly pursue believers who have fled China, including thwarting their attempts to seek asylum overseas.

She also called the world to grant protection to the Chinese religious refugees who have fled overseas.

In the early 2018, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to implement its new Regulations on Religious Affairs, thereby throwing a cloak of legitimacy over Xi Jinping’s “Sinicization of religion” policy. It also folded the State Administration for Religious Affairs into the CCP’s United Front Work Department to increase its control and suppression of religion, further laying bare the CCP’s evil attempts to completely ban religious beliefs and eradicate all religions in China.

A Roundtable Letter to EU in Support of CAG Asylum Seekers


On July 23, 2019, European Freedom of Religion or Belief Roundtable, consisting of NGOs, scholars, religious leaders, lawyers, human rights activists, etc. summited a joint letter to all members of the EU parliament and all EU States ambassadors to the EU, urging them to pay special attention to asylum seekers of The Church of Almighty God (CAG). The signatories include CAP Freedom of Conscience, Bitter Winter, Human Rights Without Frontiers, Association for the Defense of Human Rights and Religious Freedom and individuals.

Film Exposes CCP Persecution of Overseas Religious Refugees


One June 20, a new film, The Long Arm of the Dragon: China’s Persecution of Believers at Home and Abroad was released in South Korea’s Seoul, at an international religious and human rights conference by its organizer, Bitter Winter. It exposes confidential CCP documents aiming to launch long-term, systematic, large-scale operations to persecute religious refugees who have fled persecution in China, lists despicable CCP tactics to get Christians of The Church of Almighty God (CAG) extradited back to China, and calls on international society to show support for religious refugees.

On February 4, 2019, the European Federation for Freedom of Belief (FOB) held a conference in Florence, Italy to promote its most recent publication: Law and Freedom of Belief in Europe: an arduous journey. This book is an exploration of how to effectively protect the freedom of belief and religious freedoms of immigrants to Europe from across the world through legal means. This includes the situation of religious persecution in China and the issue of refugees belonging to The Church of Almighty God (CAG) who fled China due to religious persecution. Riccardo Migliori, Past President of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), introduced the book to our reporter before the conference.

On June 19th, during the Thirty-eighth Session of the Human Rights Council of the United Nations, Mr. Thierry Valle, President of the Coordination of the Associations and Individuals for Freedom of Conscience (CAP LC), on behalf of 7 NGOs, gave an oral statement at the Human Rights Council. This statement calls for attention on the continuous persecution of The Church of Almighty God by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and urges Chinese government to respect religious liberty and stop the persecution of The Church of Almighty God.
